Took a while getting around to post this entry. The past couple of weeks had been crazy; revising for exams, preparing my papers, turning into a hermit in the library and depriving myself of a lot of sleep. Retrospectively, my Thanksgiving trip New York City had been a good break from school and Pittsburgh.
View from outside my hotel.

Fifth Avenue. Clockwise from top-left: Christmas decorations in front of the Rockefeller Center, Saks at Fifth Avenue, picture of myself at Trump Towers, and the ultra-cool Apple Shop.

Times Square.

I am working wealth. This is worth all the late nights in the library poring over mind-numbing readings and programming codes.

The Metropolitan Museum is undoubtedly one of the largest museums in the world, with exhibits from nearly every known civilization and works from all the major art movements. I came out from the museum feeling physically tired from all the walking, drained from looking at one exhibit after another and regretting that I had not done more planning. The Impressionist collection impressed me the most, particularly their collection of Monet-s. On hindsight, I should have just focused on the paintings instead of trying to cover the entire museum.

Christine.

Honray. He planned our hotel and flight. I was impressed; he scoured the internet and found us tickets that are cheaper that what most people consider cheap. Thanks to him, the cost of the plane ticket and our 3 nights stay in the hotel is lesser than what most people have to pay for the flight alone. Prior to booking the hotel, he gave us a Google-Earth presentation of our various choices, and their distance from amenities and major landmarks. Every suggestion was also conscientiously Google-d.

Grand Central.

This was a nice surprise. I was milling around Madison Avenue waiting for my friends to come back to the apartment when I stumbled upon the Morgan Library and Museum. It has an impressive little collection that includes a copy of the Gutenberg Bible and several musical scores handwritten by Mozart. There was something very Godfather about his office; more than the prosperity of the House of Morgan, it conjures grand notion of ‘magnate’ and ‘titan’.

Spending the night at JFK after missing our flight.
